The Valparaiso Mayor’s Advisory Council on Disabilities is accepting requests from individuals who would like to volunteer as a member of the Council. The Council was established for the following purposes: 
- To provide a forum for community issues/activities affecting citizens with disabilities;
- To react through study and recommendation to issues brought to the attention of the Advisory Council by the Mayor of Valparaiso and the community;
- To foster public awareness and education of the needs and abilities of citizens with disabilities;
- To support legislation and administrative processes and procedures as approved by the Mayor of Valparaiso; and
- To support the endeavors of the Mayor, undertaken on behalf of citizens with disabilities.
