McAfee Animal Hospital: A Tail Wagging Good Time

The doctors and staff at McAfee Animal Hospital in Valparaiso never become weary of opening their doors to a wide range of owners and their pets. Whether someone is a longtime customer or a new face in the crowd, members of this family have dedicated their lives for 69 years to assist their community.

An open house was organized by the McAfee team to raise awareness of their astounding clinic and to thank their past and present pet owners.

“We are dedicated to the community and we are always looking for ways to give back and help out, not only with animals, but in the lives of our clients. This event is great to meet those interested in our clinic and celebrate our returning patients,” stated Jennette Rudzinski, the veterinary tech supervisor.

The six key veterinarians and their assistants work their hardest to provide excellent care. One of the services they offer is called companion laser therapy, which relieves discomfort in their old or young patients. They also use a crystal clear digital x-ray to check for any abnormalities in bone structure.

Another interesting fact about the McAfee Animal Hospital is that it provides health services for exotic animals. The Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City has asked for the hospital’s aid on more than one occasion. Some of the zoos critters were readily in attendance to greet individuals after the indoor tour ended.

While looking at the wild animals with her children and dog Mikasa, Michelle Cavanaugh, a client of the hospital, shared, “My time spent here at McAfee hospital has always been great. They have a wonderful team and Lawrence McAfee is a wonderful doctor. My parents have been assisted by the McAfee staff for years without any complaints.”

Tents were found all around the parking lot full of souvenirs, refreshments and even face painting for the youngsters. Raffles and giveaways were also present throughout the day. Any dogs who were attending also had a chance to refresh themselves in “puppy” pools provided in the grass. Woof Studios offered pet portraits while Michael Pastore entertained by performing Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bobby Darin songs. On the opposite side of the building, a trained police dog performed his takedown abilities, which drew most of the crowd.

I love our institution. It’s nice because we have kept the McAfee Hospital going for three generations. I love working with my dad and I’m certain this will stay a family run business,” said Dr. Brooke McAfee. She is the third generation of the McAfee family to pursue her love of animals as well as follow in her father’s and grandfather’s footsteps.

Doctor Lawrence (Larry) McAfee truly provides for his community and keeps his staff and family close to his heart, “A lot of time has been dedicated by our staff today and it means so much to me and my daughter. My father, Doctor John McAfee, would say the same if he was here with us.”

The McAfee Animal Hospital gives all animals a clean and safe area to visit, heal and even find a home in some cases. No matter how large or small, all pets are welcomed here.
