On Friday, August 9, 2019, Amy Biera, HR Assistant, Teleperformance, Hobart, IN., brought the Humanitarian Award for 2019 to the Merrillville office of Meals on Wheels. Amy and her staff have delivered meals for Meals on Wheels since 2017. With a large group of volunteers at Teleperformance they have delivered meals twice a week on two different routes for the past year. When Tomeika Poe, Human Resources, VP, approached Meals on Wheels, they initially wanted to deliver once a week. Once engaged in the process the staff felt they wanted to do even more to help in the community and the supervisors agreed. With more than 42 routes to be delivered every day, Meals on Wheels of NW Indiana is grateful for their support of delivery of our meals. The group has even offered to do 2 routes when needed and often ask if there is more they can do.

The World Humanitarian Day Award is an annual award that recognizes a non-profit that allows an organization the opportunity to give back to the community they live and work in. Meals on Wheels of NW Indiana is appreciative of their recognition of our efforts to provide proper nutrition to those in need in Northwest Indiana utilizing the services of vounteers.
