Kelmp-VasosAlexandra Vasos (left), of Crown Point, and Hannah Klemp, of Wheatfield, recently were selected the 2014 recipients of Health Care Provider Scholarships awarded by the Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Crown Point Medical Executive Committee. They are shown being congratulated by committee president Stephanos Rizos, MD, prior to a recent meeting. Recipients of the $1,000 annual scholarships, which have been presented since 2008, are eligible to receive them for two consecutive years if they maintain an adequate grade point average and stay enrolled in the health care field.

Vasos plans to attend St. Louis University and to become an orthopedic surgeon; while Klemp plans to attend the University of Indianapolis to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology and become an occupational therapist. Scholarship applicants provide their GPA, SAT scores, a listing of extracurricular activities and work history, and answer a series of questions about why they have chosen their career path, the events in their life that have shaped their decision and why they deserve the scholarship.
