Franciscan Health Crown Point: New Telemetry Unit Enhances, Expedites Patient Care

A new telemetry/observation area opened March 20 on the second floor of Franciscan Health Crown Point. The unit, an expansion of the existing medical-surgical program, is a 22-bed facility with telemetry capabilities that will improve the efficiencies of patient bed placement through critical care departments of the hospital during times of high census.

Said Mary Beth Bateman, unit manager, “It is a beautiful, all-private room telemetry unit, that will provide care for those patients who are expected to have a relatively short hospital stay. We will be able to assist the Emergency Department with throughput, by placing the patients in a unit that is designed to efficiently meet their care needs through new processes and staff that are focused on expediting care.” Shown is Maxine Pass, of DeMotte, the first patient to take advantage of the unit, on its opening day. She received a gift basket and celebratory balloon from the hospital staff, while being visited by her husband, Larry.
