Meet Century 21 Alliance Group’s Steve Hoard: Real Estate Agent, Entrepreneur, Family Man

Century 21 Alliance Group's Steve Hoard prides himself on his history and relationship with Northwest Indiana. This long time veteran of real estate has plenty of professional experience as well as a personal background in the Valparaiso community.

Born and raised in Valparaiso, Hoard has plenty of experience growing up in a dynamic and changing community and using its always changing attitude to forward his relationship to Northwest Indiana and his career.

"I was born and raised in Valparaiso, I've seen many changes and a lot of growth in the area over the years," says Hoard. 'I'm very proud to be in Valparaiso and Northwest Indiana, it's a great place to live in."

Hoard, before entering the real estate business was the owner of his own business and enjoyed the opportunity of shaping his job into something he loved while still being able to manage his time independently. While at his own business, Hoard always found great satisfaction in working in the customer service industry and by excelling with working with clients, led him to take the next step by entering real estate.

"After owning my own business for 10 years, I decided real estate would be a great second career," says Hoard. "It allowed me to work with people and still be my own boss."

Hoard's current position not only has him working as a real estate agent, but also working as part of Century 21's relocation team. By being a part of this team, Hoard introduces people to the Valparaiso area, allowing him to pursue his passion for talking about his hometown and educating people about the diversity to be found in the community.

"Being on the office relocation team allows me to work with new people moving into the area," says Hoard. "I really enjoy the opportunities to help these new people learn about NWI and the amenities it offers."

Along with his own career, Hoard's wife Jan is also heavily involved in the real estate industry. Working both in and out of the Century 21 office, Jan manages paperwork and keeps in contact with clients, letting Hoard present homes and property to clients and work out of the office.

For Hoard, being able to work in a community that he loves in a career field that he equally loves has been a largely positive experience that has extended beyond the workplace and into the community as well.

"I was involved with the Valparaiso Jaycees for several years and even served as the president for one year," says Hoard. "It was important for me to give back to the community. I learned so much, including working with other people towards common goals."

Hoard spends his few non-busy days doing yard work, reading and spending time with his family, his favorite free time activity.

"I've been married for over 40 years to my wife and business partner Jan,' says Hoard. "I have two grown sons and five wonderful grandsons that I love spending time with."
