Meet Kim Asher of the Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospitals

Since February of 2001, Kim Asher has worked as a mammography technologist at the Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospitals. Asher graduated with an Associates Degree in Radiology from Indiana University in 1996.

"I became interested in mammography after I rotated through the field during the x-ray program," Asher said.

She came to the Breast Care Center in 2001. She liked the patients and the care that was shown to them.

"I really wanted to be in a more specialized field," Asher said. "The patients are friendly and personable and though there are some sad stories here, we have a lot of wonderful success stories here with our patients."

Asher's routine day consists of performing mammograms, breast biopsies, bone density tests, and more. She knows that the women and men who walk through the doors at the Breast Care Center have fears and concerns, and she does her best to ease those fears and address those concerns.

"The entire team takes extra care to make our patients comfortable," Asher said. "We are a close-knit, experienced group of women. I've been here for 15 years and I have the lowest seniority here. I really like who I work with."

Outside of work, Asher loves to spend time with her family and friends. She, her husband, and two daughters are avid campers and they can be found frequenting Indiana state parks on camping trips.
