Meet Mary Ann Alberson: A Real Estate Agent and Home Renovator Improving her Community

Mary-Ann-Alberson-newA Realtor for more than 10 years and a CENTURY 21 Alliance Group agent for a total of 7 years, Mary Ann Alberson loves everything about homes.

“I like to see the construction of the homes,” Mary Ann said. “I love looking at the architecture and how the home is decorated.”

Looking for a job with a flexible schedule and a good income, Mary Ann turned her passion for homes into a career. Working with buyers is one of Mary Ann’s favorite parts of her job. She enjoys helping buyers find their first home, their dream home and matching her clients’ criteria with the homes available for sale.

When Mary Ann first began her real estate career, she assisted her cousin Sarah and Sarah’s husband, Craig, with finding their first home. Then last year she helped the couple sell their first home and move into a beautiful family home with more room for their expanding family, which now includes a two-year-old toddler and a two-month-old baby.

“My favorite part of the job is assisting my clients in selling their home to move up to a newer, better, larger home or relocating to another town,” Mary Ann said.

Even in her spare time, Mary Ann enjoys working with homes. In addition to owning their own business, Lake County Window Tinter for the past 25 years, Mary Ann and her husband, David, also buy estates or foreclosures and fix them up.

“I thoroughly enjoy the transformation of the home from what it looked like before to what it transforms into after being updated,” Mary Ann said. “All of the neighbors love that the home looks so much better and improving the neighborhood makes me feel really good.”

An expert on the Lake County real estate market, Mary Ann has been a resident of Crown Point for the last 22 years and has lived in Lake County for 30 years. She enjoys giving back to her community by participating in Relay for Life in Crown Point for the past 10 years in support of a good friend who had lymphoma.

Mary Ann also donated her time this year during United Way of Porter County’s Day of Caring. She joined fellow Realtors in cleaning and sanitizing the new facility in downtown Valparaiso for local animal rescue, Lakeshore PAWS.

“I absolutely loved volunteering for the Day of Caring this year, and it was an extra bonus to assist Lakeshore PAWS,” Mary Ann said. “The United Way is a great organization, and it is my pleasure giving back to the community.”

In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoys spending time with her family and attending car shows with her husband. The couple has been married 30 years and they have two sons, Ryan, 25 and Tyler, 22.
