Meet Reagan: An “All About Kids” Success Story

ReaganReagan is a spirited two-and-a-half-year old little girl. She loves to sing, play with friends and her little sister, and never stops moving. Seeing her now, you would never know that this whirlwind of energy couldn’t walk just five short months ago. Her mother, Laura, credits her success to the Toddler Group at Opportunity Enterprises’ All About Kids Program.

Laura used to spend countless hours with Reagan. They worked on puzzles, songs, and other activities in the hopes of improving Reagan’s developmental skills, but Reagan still wasn’t walking or talking like her peers. The stay-at-home mom heard of the All About Kids program in September of 2013. Laura knew her daughter had the potential to blossom, so she enrolled Reagan in the Toddler Group. After a month in AAK she took her very first steps, and she hasn’t stopped moving forward since then.

Her cognitive comprehension has improved greatly. She follows directions, listens much better, and has really improved in every aspect of development. Seeing her flawlessly assemble a puzzle for the first time completely blew my mind,” says Laura. “The breakthrough happened after the input from the Toddler Group.

Toddler Group Developmental Therapist, Valerie Spaulding, adds that Reagan has learned the rules and routines by watching the other children who have attended the group for a longer period of time. “She is learning to complete tasks and to ‘wait’ for the rest of the group. She seems very driven to be independent and wants to do things on her own, but also looks to the teachers for confirmation that she is doing a good job. She is very loving and enjoys playing with her peers,” says Valerie.

Laura has seen so much improvement in Reagan that she recommends the All About Kids program to anyone who has a child with a disability. “There is no other program like this out there, and I cannot thank all those who are involved in the AAK program enough.”
