Meet Rocky Guernsey: Real Estate Agent, Lifelong Northwest Indiana Resident, Wife and Mom

rocky-guernseyCENTURY 21 Alliance Group agent Rocky Guernsey makes a difference in her community through her career as a real estate agent and in her community involvement.

Rocky began her career as a real estate agent 17 years ago after having a bad experience while looking to buy land. She had difficulty finding an agent willing to help her and felt that a real estate agent should provide quality service to all types of clients, those making big and small purchases.

“I thought that buyers should feel confident in their agents and agents should protect their interests,” Rocky explained. For this reason, she treats each client with the same respect. She currently is working with a young teacher who is new to the area and looking for a home in a lower price range.

“The work is more challenging, but it’s rewarding to help someone just getting started in their new life,” Rocky said.

Buying a home is generally the biggest financial decision and largest investment a person will make in their life and Rocky carefully handles each transaction. “I am thorough and a perfectionist,” she said. She is a multi-million-dollar producer, an accomplished negotiator and has earned her Graduate Real Estate Institute (GRI) designation.

Rocky enjoys being a real estate agent for many reasons—from working closely with people and having a flexible schedule to looking at the houses and décor.

“I like people and working with people is a big part of this job.” Rocky expressed. “My favorite part of the job is working with first-time home buyers because they’re so excited to buy a new home and start their lives.” She also enjoys working with sellers and helping them downsize after retirement or move up into a bigger, better home.

Rocky joined CENTURY 21 Alliance Group in 2002 and speaks highly of her fellow agents there. “The agents at CENTURY 21 Alliance Group are caring and help each other,” Rocky said. “It’s a good, professional, knowledgeable group I work with. It’s like a family.”

Rocky gives back to her community by supporting charities and nonprofits—including Lakeshore PAWS, Riley’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s House, the Northwest Indiana Food Pantry and The Caring Place. She served on the committee for Go Red for Women’s annual fundraiser and participated in Day of Caring with other agents at CENTURY 21 Alliance Group replacing mulch at Tower Park in Valparaiso.

“I feel I’m very fortunate to have a healthy family and good lifestyle and it’s nice to help those who aren’t as lucky,” Rocky said.

A Chesterton High School graduate and lifelong Northwest Indiana resident, Rocky currently lives in Valparaiso with her husband of 23 years, Gene. Her daughters Laurin, 22, and Stephanie, 21 are both enrolled at Ball State where they are working toward degrees in elementary education.

In her free time, Rocky enjoys playing golf, caring for her backyard vegetable garden, reading and spending time with her daughters.
