Memorial Elementary Holiday Giving

Memorial Elementary School has kicked off the holiday season with a giving spirit. The students participated in a “Dime Line” competition, which is similar to “Jar Wars” where classes compete against one another to get the least amount of money in their class jar by putting more in the jars of other classes. The students raised over $720 dollars with this event, money that will help Memorial families during the holidays.

Along with the “Dime Line,” each class has selected a family or child from the community to sponsor for Christmas gifts. During their monthly CASS time this week, each class wrapped the gifts they had purchased, which will be delivered at a later date. In addition, the Memorial PTO placed a tree in one of the hallways to collect hats and gloves for donations to needy children who do not have proper winter attire.

The children have learned a valuable lesson this holiday. Giving and helping those in need in our community is an important part of a well rounded life.
