Men’s Golf Concludes Action in Louisiana

VU-Mens-Golf-Concludes-Action-in-LouisianaThe Valparaiso men’s golf team wrapped up the second tournament of its spring campaign when the Crusaders took to the links Tuesday for the final 18 holes at the Wallace Jones Invitational in Delhi, La.

The team continued to show consistency, posting a 297 for the second straight round and finishing with a team total of 892, good for 10th place behind tournament winner UL-Monroe.

Topping the Crusader individuals was Eric Winters (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward), who carded a 77 in the final round and finished with a three-round total of 221 and a t-23rd finish. Finishing second for the Brown and Gold was Jared Magoline (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac [Marquette]), who wrapped up play with a 75, and a total of 223.

Peter Webb (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) and Nick Seitz (Xenia, Ohio/Carroll) followed closely behind their two teammates. Webb finished with a 70 on Tuesday, the best individual round score for the team, and ended with a total of 225. Seitz recorded a 76 over the final 18 holes and ended up with a tournament total of 226. Wrapping up Valpo’s effort was Zach Cutler (O’Fallon, Mo./Timberland) who carded a 76 in the final round and a 54-hole total of 235.

The Crusaders will now head home and get some practice in before their next tournament, which will see them travel to another Horizon League foe, as they go to Dayton, Ohio to take part in the Wright State Invitational. The tournament is scheduled to take place April 4th and 5th. Results and recaps will be available after both days’ action at ValpoAthletics.com.
