Men’s Tennis Quiets Quinnipiac, 6-1

VU-Mens-Tennis-Quiets-Quinnipiac-6-1The Valparaiso men's tennis team continued its winning ways in Orlando, Florida on Monday. The Crusaders dispatched Quinnipiac, 6-1, at Lake Cane Courts.

The Brown and Gold notched wins at all three doubles pairings.

Lucas Waak (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) and Garrett Gardner (Poland, Ohio/Poland) opened with a 6-1 victory over Luke Roser/Willem van Biezen at No. 3

Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg)/Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) grabbed the doubles point by virtue of their 6-3 win versus Jonas Kuwert/Julian Rozenstein at No. 1.

Dave Bacalla (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and Danny Oakes (Elburn, Ill./Saint Charles North) made it a clean sweep with a 6-4 triumph at No. 2 against QU's Kei Ezaka/Eric Ambrosio.

The Crusaders rolled to five victories in singles play.

Schorsch cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win in his matchup at No. 2 against Kuwert.

Bacalla and Ezaka engaged in a lively duel at No. 1 before the former seized a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) victory.

Ambrosio provided the Bobcats with their lone point at No. 3 singles. He outlasted Kyle Dunn (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) in a tight 7-6 (11-9), 7-5 affair.

Emhardt clinched the match for Valpo after his 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win against Rozenstein. Junior Michael Savaglio (Kenosha, Wis./Mary D. Bradford) rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.

Gardner wrapped things up with his 19th victory of the season, defeating Roser, 7-5, 6-2.

Valpo (12-2) will compete in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Crusaders will take on the University of Miami (4-6) at 11:30 am ET/10:30 am CT before facing Wheaton College in the afternoon.
