CCSJ-Mens-Volleyball-Drops-CCAC-Opener-To-Judson-2018The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's volleyball team kicked off its 2018 CCAC campaign when they headed to Elgin, Ill. to take on the Eagles of Judson University. There they found a packed house, full of spectator's eager to witness the first home match in Judson school history. The Eagles fed off that energy, defeating the Wave in four very close sets (25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 27-29) on Tuesday evening.

The Wave started off the evening fresh, having almost two weeks to heal from nagging injuries that occurred during the season opener, and it showed. CCSJ (0-2, 0-1 CCAC) closed out the first set in decisive fashion, ending the 25- 20 victory with six straight points. Judson (1-1, 1-0 CCAC) regrouped quickly, grabbing ten of the first 13 points awarded in set two. The Crimson and Gray came on late, pulling even at 23-23, before the Eagles earned the final two points for the 25-23 set victory. Set three was a back and forth affair, but Calumet only managed to hit .088 on their way to their lowest set point total of the evening at 25-21. In the fourth and final set, the Wave took the Eagles to the limit and then some, but the men in Crimson committed a game high 10 errors during the set. CCSJ had three chances at set point, but just couldn't get the job done, falling 29-27 in the final set of the night.

Tim Williams (SR/Aurora, Ill.) had an impressive evening, leading all players with 20 kills, while turning in an attack percentage of .267. Trevor Williams handled things well on the defensive end with 15 digs, and Roberto Morales (FR/Calumet City, Ill.) pitched in a game high 38 assists.

Next up for the Wave will be Trinity Christian College when the Wave open the home portion of the CCAC schedule on Thursday evening. First serve against the Trolls is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Rittenmeyer Center.
