Methodist Hospitals celebrated National Cancer Survivor Day on Sunday, June 5, 2016, by hosting a Sunday Sundae for cancer survivors and their families. Cancer survivors and their guests came together for a day of fellowship and were treated to ice cream sundaes and music at Methodist Hospitals Oncology Institute. The event also included a special presentation by Dr. Danielle Sterrenberg, Medical Oncologist.
This year was the 29th annual National Cancer Survivors Day. This event is held in hundreds of communities nationwide on the first Sunday in June. It is a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families and an outreach to the community. Thousands gather across the globe to honor cancer survivors and to show the world that life after cancer can be fruitful, rewarding and even inspiring as defined the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.
