Methodist Hospitals to Offer Farmer’s Market Again in 2018

rot1Five years ago after Methodist Hospitals conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment one of the issues identified in the Gary community was the lack of availability of fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. As a result Methodist Hospitals Food Services Department began offering a series of Farmer’s Markets and Food Fairs at wholesale prices to promote nutrition and enhance the availability of fresh produce to the Gary and surrounding communities. “The Farmer’s Market has become an annual tradition and is a reflection of our commitment to the well-being and nutrition needs of our community,” said Wright Alcorn, Vice President Operations, Methodist Hospitals.

The Farmer’s Market will be held on the following Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Northlake Campus in Gary. The Farmer’s Market will be held in the parking lot directly across from the Administration Building and next to McDonalds:

  • Friday, July 27
  • Friday, August 17
  • Friday, August 31
  • Friday, September 21

Look for the big white tent and the Farmer’s Market signs. There will be lots of fresh, delicious fruits and vegetables at wholesale prices.
