Miguel David Captures Second CCAC Player of the Week Honor for Purdue Calumet

PUC-PeregrinsFreshman goalkeeper Miguel David earned his second and the Purdue University Calumet men's soccer team's fourth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of the season as announced by the league office Tuesday.

David, a 6-foot freshman from Spring Valley, Calif. (Bonita Vista), completed another stellar week in goal for the Peregrines, who captured victories over CCAC foes Roosevelt (1-0) and Robert Morris (1-0). The victories weren't just wins -- as David was big reason why Purdue Calumet and the freshman collected their fourth and fifth shutouts of the season, including their fourth in a row.

David has played every minute during that stretch, as he has not given up a goal since Oct. 8 -- in more than 400 minutes. His biggest performance came in the Peregrines' 1-0 victory over CCAC leader Roosevelt Oct. 22, as he had three saves in the double overtime victory, denying the nation's No. 2 scoring offense (4.33 goals per game) a goal for the first time this season en route to snapping the Lakers' 11-match winning streak.

The freshman is the current CCAC leader in goals against average (0.83) and save percentage (.815) and ranks No. 20 in the NAIA Division 1 in GAA.

The Peregrines (9-5-1, 6-2-1 CCAC) return to action tonight in a road match at St. Francis (Ill.) in Joliet, Ill., beginning at 7 p.m.
