Thanks to more than 1,000 volunteers 62 community projects were completed on Friday, August 10 as part of United Way’s annual Day of Caring program.
Noted as the largest single-day volunteer event in Northwest Indiana, Day of Caring brings together residents and businesses to support their community by helping area nonprofits with tasks they would not otherwise be able to do.
“We cannot thank our volunteers enough for jumping in to help us and our partners with these extra projects,” said Kim Olesker, president and CEO of United Way of Porter County. “Working together we make to bigger impact than alone.”
More than 34 nonprofits across the Region were supported by this effort. Projects included landscaping, painting, building, hosting client picnics, collection drives and more.
The event is supported by Blachly, Tabor, Bozik & Hartman, Chester, Inc., CSI, Lakeshore Public Media, McAfee Animal Hospital, The Times Media Group and other community-minded businesses.
The day kicked off with two, free rally breakfasts provided by Family Express. For more information about the impact United Way of Porter County and its partners are making in the community, visit unitedwaypc.org.
