Motorcycle Riders Will Cruise for Kid’s Cancer

NICK-LogoMotorcycle enthusiast of all varieties will take part in the Hessville Eagle Riders second annual charity motorcycle ride on Saturday June 30, 2012.

In the summer’s main charitable events of its type, participants will cruise through Northwest Indiana while raising funds to benefit local residents affected by pediatric cancer.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation. The NICK Foundation provides financial assistance and counsel to local children and families affected by childhood cancer.

NICK Foundation co-founder Donna Criner said, “We have learned of three new families with a child battling cancer in just the past week, any support we can provide is such a blessing to them right now.”

The Hessville branch of the Fraternal Order of Eagles has just about 45 members but the organizations hopes the masses will come out and support the cause.

Event coordinator Sherry Pawlas said, “The work the NICK foundation has done is unmatched and we feel we need to work really hard to help."

The ride will begin at the Hammond FOP 51 Lodge located at 7527 Kennedy Ave. in Hammond, Ind. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the ride will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Riders will thunder through the area on a route that will stop at the Eagles club in Cedar Lake, Super Bowl Bowling Alley in Crown Point, Lighthouse Pub in Hebron, Dawg House Pub in Merrillville and the VIP Lounge in Griffith.

The event will also include a community cookout featuring food, drinks, raffle prizes and music. The cookout will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

Admission for the public and non-riders is a donation of $15.00. To participate as a single rider it is $20.00 and $25.00 for double riders. Admittance is free for children under the age of 12.
