Nancy Kickbush Retires from 50 Years of Service to the Schools

Nancy-Kickbush-Retirement-1Congratulations to Nancy Kickbush on her retirement from the Valpo Schools Foundation board! In honor of all she has done, Mayor Costas declared December 7, 2011 as Nancy Kickbush Day!

WHEREAS, Nancy Kickbush taught in the Valparaiso elementary school system from 1961 until 1997; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Kickbush became principal at Central Elementary School from 1997 until 2003; and

WHEREAS, in 2006 Nancy was one of the founders of the Public Education Foundation of Valparaiso that merged with Dollars for Scholars; and

WHEREAS, while teaching, Nancy was also president several times of the Valparaiso Teachers Association; and

WHEREAS, very few people have impacted as many Valparaiso students over 50 years as Nancy has done; and

Nancy-Kickbush-Retirement-2WHEREAS, Wednesday, December 7, 2011 will be her last meeting at the Foundation as she begins traveling more with her husband, Ray; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jon Costas, Mayor of the City of Valparaiso, Indiana, do hereby proclaim December 7, 2011 as

Nancy Kickbush Day

In the City of Valparaiso and urge all Valparaiso residents to recognize her outstanding service to the young people of our community, as we honor Nancy for dedicating 50 years of loyalty and integrity to her profession and her students.
