Last night neighborhoods across Valparaiso joined together with the Valparaiso Police to show support against crime in the community. A total of six neighborhoods participated in this year’s National Night Out. Neighborhoods participating this year included Essex Park, Pine Creek, Meridian Woods, Oakgrove, Lexington Green and the 1800 block of Napoleon St.
Each location had a great turnout. Police provided K-9 demonstrations and passed out educational material to children. Neighborhoods participating shared ice cream, hot dogs and cotton candy with visiting police officers. The Valparaiso Target Store was a corporate sponsor and provided side walk chalk to all the children participating.
This event was a huge success due to all the participation of community members in each neighborhood.
