The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for the NEW Solving Mysteries through Art program for ages 11-13 to be held on Saturdays, January 22 – February 12, 2011; 2:00-4:00 p.m. at rTrail Collective Edge, 54 Lincolnway, Valparaiso. Solving Mysteries through Art is a unique class where participants will read “Chasing Vermeer” by best-selling author Blue Balliett and then discuss the story and create their own illustrations based on that week’s reading. The session will conclude with an optional family day trip to Chicago to further explore the art discussed in the book. Books may be reserved at the public library and a $10 art supply fee will be collected the first day of class. The class fee is just $95. Call the Park Department at 219-462-5144 for more information.
