NIPSCO CARES Funds Available at The Salvation Army of Porter County

nipsco-logoThe Salvation Army of Porter Co., through a partnership with NIPSCO currently have funds available for people in need of assistance paying the gas portion of their NIPSCO bill. These funds have been made available through the NIPSCO Cares program and are available through May 31, 2011.

In order to be eligible for this assistance, NIPSCO customers must meet certain eligibility requirements, and customers that have received assistance from the Energy Assistance program this heating season (October 2010 through May 2011) are not eligible for this program.

Applicants for the NIPSCO Cares program must fall between 150% and 200% of the Federal Poverty guidelines. For example, a family of four must have made between $33,075.00 and $44,100.00 in order to be considered for the program. The applicant must either have a Notice of Disconnection or a Credit Agreement with NIPSCO as well.

SalvArmyLogoColorSmallThe NIPSCO Cares program funds are for past-due gas service amounts only and the program will pay a maximum of $200.00. None of the funds will be applied to electric service charges.

NIPSCO customers living in Porter County should call The Salvation Army of Porter Co. at 219-762-9191 if they have a disconnect notice or credit agreement that includes past-due gas service to see if they are eligible for this program and to schedule an appointment. This program will expire May 31, 2011 or earlier if resources are expended.
