NIPSCO Demonstrates Commitment to Environmentally-Friendly Service

nipscoWe’re committed to making sure you always have the gas and electricity you need when you need it. But we’re also committed to serving you in an environmentally responsible way. Here are just a few steps we’re taking as we work toward a cleaner, safer and greener Northern Indiana.

Renewable Energy Investment
With two hydroelectric facilities and our recent investment in 100 MW of wind energy, we are increasing our commitment to sustainable energy.

Air Pollution Reduction
We’ve invested more than $350 million in air emission reduction programs, resulting in a more than 70 percent drop in nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) over the last two decades – and we’re working to do even more.

Sugar Creek Addition
Our recent purchase of Sugar Creek Power Plant helps us take advantage of the environmental benefits of a natural gas-fired facility.

Reforestation
Through a partnership with Forestry Operations, we’ve planted more than 2,400 trees in Indiana over the past five years.

Land Trust
Our support of the Shirley Heinze Land Trust has resulted in the acquisition and preservation of a 42-acre wetland to be used for education and conservation.

Grand Kankakee Marsh
As a major partner of the Grand Kankakee Marsh Restoration Project, we have helped restore thousands of acres of ecologically valuable wetlands.

Promoting Energy Efficiency
We understand everyone can make a difference, and that’s why we’re offering helpful energy efficient programs and incentives to our customers.

Produce Your Own Power
If you’re interested in using wind, solar or hydro power to generate electricity at your home or business, we can help you get connected.
