NIPSCO Pledges $1 Million to Boys & Girls Clubs of NWI for New Center

Boys-Girls-Club-NWICompany also announces commitment to support Clubs across northern Indiana

Marking one of the single largest corporate donations in Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana’s history, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) will donate $1 million to rebuild the former Tolleston Junior/High School into a state-of-the-art Boys & Girls Club and Community Center for Lake County, Ind. – expected to be completed in 2013.

NIPSCO’s contribution also kicks off a broader company initiative that will be announced to support the various local Boys & Girls Clubs across the 32 counties served by the utility. Employee-led efforts will include fundraising, volunteering opportunities and other community events.

Anyone who has ever been a part of Boys & Girls Clubs, whether it was as a youth or volunteer, understands the important role the Clubs play in our community,” said Mike Finissi, NIPSCO chief operating officer and head of NIPSCO’s company-wide Boys & Girls Clubs initiative. “Our employees are excited to help make the Tolleston project become a reality, and we look forward to working with the other Clubs across the state to ensure that our youth continue to have a positive environment to learn, develop and grow.

We thank NIPSCO not only for their financial commitment, but their commitment from its caring employees to donate their time and energy toward our mission of providing our youth with the hope and opportunities they deserve,” added Lincoln Ellis, chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of NWI.
