An educational understanding of economic development and incentives to help communities plan and attract business to Northwest Indiana
The Northwest Indiana Forum (Forum), Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and Krieg DeVault have partnered to create a Strategic Investment in Economic Development program.
The free, two-hour workshop will take place Thursday, April 23, 2015, with the opportunity to choose a program from three convenient locations:
• Morning: Purdue North Central, Library Student Facility Building (Westville) from 8 to 10 a.m.
• Afternoon: Indiana Welcome Center (Hammond) from noon to 2 p.m.
• Evening: Knox Community Center (Knox) from 5 to 7 p.m.
Strategic Investment in Economic Development is designed for all elected officials and appointed board members of cities and towns, as well as other professionals involved in the process of attracting business to Northwest Indiana. Attendees can register for the free workshop by emailing contact information to email@example.com or by calling (219) 763-6303. Please designate which workshop you will be attending.
The workshop is structured so attendees leave with a clear understanding of the economic development basics and regional economic development initiatives. The session will feature Kostas A. Poulakidas, Partner, and Patrick A. Brennan of Krieg DeVault along with Jim Staton, Regional Director, IEDC, as well as other key economic development and workforce professionals.
Speakers will conduct interactive discussions regarding the various aspects of creating a solid economic development program and incentive packages, explain the tools and terms of economic development, showcase success stories of economic planning and development, and field questions from the audience.
“The Forum, along with the IEDC and Krieg DeVault, recognize that all parties involved in economic development should have a clear understanding of the basic process, incentives, programs and procedures, and regional initiatives as they relate to community planning,” said Matt Saltanovitz, Director of Economic Development at the Forum. “The Northwest Indiana Forum is pleased to be a part of a regional program that addresses the needs of the local economic development groups, professionals and officials.”
The Northwest Indiana Forum is a non-profit, privately funded regional environmental and economic development organization, comprised of regional business leaders, serving Northwest Indiana. Funded by membership contributions and grants, Forum membership translates into a direct investment in the region.
