NOT Home for the Holidays: Service Projects at Valparaiso High School!

While many, many service projects are being done in and around our community and our school, the Family Consumer Sciences classes are really going all out for the holiday season! The Interpersonal Relations classes, taught by Ginger Sajdera, have organized three different super service projects. Period 3 has raised monies with a "Munchie Cart" outside their classroom in order to purchase gifts for children who will not be home for the holidays due to temporarily residing with the Caring Place!

They will be shopping and delivering gifts and Santa hats to the Caring Place offices before our holiday break. Period 7/8 also baked and sold goods to their classmates with the Munchie Cart and is using their monies to create care packages of toiletry items for the homeless at the New Creation Men's Shelter of Valpo and to women temporarily residing at the Caring Place. They have done their shopping and will be stuffing 45 care packages! Period 10 is making decorations and doing a little holiday baking for both the VNA Hospice Center's Family Room and for The Life Care Center.

CaringPllaceLogoThey will also be visiting Life Care to play games, hand out prizes, and hang decorations and chat. In the mean time, all six Nutrition & Wellness classes, taught by Debra Shaffer, Christina DeAngelis and Ginger Sajdera, are baking cookies to donate to the shelters of our community prior to the holiday break! We are so PROUD of the generosity and giving spirit!
