Novel Fundraising Idea Hopes to Raise $50,000 or More for United Ways in Lake & Porter County

Kramer & Leonard Office Products has launched a unique way to raise $50,000 or more for the Lake Area United Way and United Way of Porter County, and local organizations can help at no extra cost to their business. It’s as easy as buying paper for your office copiers.

Every eligible carton of paper which is purchased from Kramer & Leonard will have a portion of the proceeds go to support the United Way in Lake or Porter County where each company is located. There are no forms, no codes, and no coupons to clip.

The idea was the brain child of Greg Fox, President of Kramer & Leonard, who is a member of United Way of Porter County’s Board of Directors. “I was flying back home from a business trip and thinking about how our company could co-brand and help raise funds for United Way,” he said.

“All you have to do is to call or fax us and order Copy Paper Number KL92B. It’s your standard 20 pound weight 92 bright copy paper. We like to say each order is making a difference, one carton at a time,” he smiled.

With Kramer & Leonard’s price match guarantee, companies will always receive the best paper pricing they’re eligible for up front while assisting their hometown United Way so they can continue to fund local programs and initiatives which help the community.

“I really believe this is how communities are built,” Fox said. “It’s about giving back and developing mutually beneficial business opportunities that benefit Northwest Indiana and a great cause. This is a true ‘win, win, win’.”

Fox said that he hopes area companies will develop other novel ways to co-brand and partner with United Way. “Smart business people are always thinking outside of the box,” Fox added.

So far the promotion has attracted several area businesses to start ordering their copy paper from Kramer & Leonard including Calumet College of St. Joseph, Centier, Citizens Financial Bank, Diversified Marketing Strategies, and Majestic Star Casinos & Hotel.

"We are very grateful to Greg for conceiving the idea for the promotion and working with us to get it off the ground,” said Lou Martinez, President and CPO for the Lake Area United Way.
