The Family & Youth Services Bureau is now enrolling families for its next session of Strengthening Families, an established parenting and family enrichment program offered at no charge to the participants. The program has been offered ten times in the past 4 years with positive results.
Families are eligible for the program if there are teens in the family between the ages of 12-16 and there is a desire to improve relationships while preventing behavioral problems. Enrollment in the 14-week program enables the family to develop successful communication skills that can prevent behavior problems and promote healthy daily living. We typically work with 7 to 10 families in this program, and each family member attends to address issues and develop communications skills.
Each weekly session will be on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8 pm, held at the downtown Valparaiso office of the Family & Youth Services Bureau, 253 W. Lincolnway, Valparaiso. The next session will begin on Thursday, January 9 and end on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
