Purdue University North Central faculty member Dr. Li Tan, assistant professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology recently traveled to China to present a paper at a conference and to share his knowledge with mechanical engineering students.
The first stop was to attend the 4th Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications in Xian, China to present his research paper, "Adaptive Second-Order Volterra Filtered-x RLS Algorithms with Sequential and Partial Updates for Nonlinear Active Noise Control."
This conference was a forum for scientists, engineers and practitioners from throughout the world to gather to share information and to learn about the latest techniques in industrial electronics. Topics presented included industrial informatics, computational intelligence, control and systems, energy and environment, mechatronics, power electronics, signal processing, network and communication technologies, aerospace electronics and information systems.
Following that, Tan traveled to Nanjing University of Science and Technology in Nanjing. He was invited by deans of the mechanical engineering and the graduate schools to attend the opening ceremony of the summer research workshop series. He presented two research talks to masters and Ph.D. students at the school of mechanical engineering. The first day talk was "Linear Active Noise Control: Principles, Algorithms and Research Advances." The second day talk was "Nonlinear Active Noise Control: Principles and Algorithms, Current Status, Challenges and Future Directions."
Tan is a senior member of IEEE, IEEE Signal Processing Society, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, the American Society of Electrical Engineers, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi and has been listed in "Who's Who in America, 2001," "Who's Who in the world, 2002," and "Who's Who in Science and Engineering 2003."
