NWI Home Prices Continue Rise in May 2014

rot2Single-family existing homes prices rose in both Lake and Porter Counties according to the latest real estate market data, reports Jeanne Sommer, broker/owner of CENTURY 21 Alliance Group in Valparaiso, IN.

According to the latest real estate data, Porter County saw a continued increase in residential sale prices over last year. Additionally, more homes sold in less time in Porter County during the first five months of 2014 when compared to the same months in 2013.

The number of single-family existing average sales price increased from $131,100 in 2013 to $132,666 in Lake County in 2014 and from $180,597 in 2013 in Porter County to $188,864.

In addition, the number of days a property was listed on the market was down from 151 last year in Porter County to 134 this year. All data was provided by the Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors and calculated from January 1 to May 31 in 2014 and compared to the same time period in 2013.
