NWI Residential Real Estate Begins A New Year

rot3The Northwest Indiana residential real estate market is off to a positive start in 2017. Just within the first month of the new year, we have seen increases in the number of homes sold in comparison to this time last year as well as increases in the sales price.

Porter County's number of homes sold through January has increased by 7% compared to last year.

Lake County reports that there was an overall increase in the average sales price, especially in Merrillville, Dyer, Schererville, and St. John.

LaPorte County saw an increase in, not only the average sales price, but in the number of homes sold as well. The number of homes sold increased by 4% in comparison to this time last year.

The optimistic predictions we had at the close of 2016, appear to be becoming a reality. As market trends continue to increase, so does our positive outlook for the upcoming months.

All data was provided by the Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors and calculated from January 1 to January 31 in 2016 and compared to January 1 to January 31 in 2017.
