Oak Partners celebrates March Madness alongside clients, friends, and family

Oak Partners welcomed their clients to March Madness at Catch 22 Table & Tap Thursday evening. The wealth and retirement planning company covered food and drinks while spending time connecting with their clients. The atmosphere was full of energy as the packed restaurant rooted for their favorite teams and made memories.

A newer client, Steve Kekelik, cheered for Purdue alongside his wife Sue. Kekelik said he is on the cusp of retirement from his career as an electrician. Because of the many adventures ahead including his son’s wedding, traveling, and building a house, he turned to Oak Partners for help.

“I feel like they are family oriented,” Kekelik said. “You run into a lot of people at their events and then you get to know them better. I enjoy the camaraderie and it’s a lot of fun.”

According to Jason Urbaniak, Partner and financial planner, Oak Partners hosts about 60 events a year. Some of the events are educational, while some are social, such as events at skating rinks, water parks, and movie theaters. Tonight, Urbaniak cheered for Duke alongside his colleagues and clients.

“We’ve had clients for 25 years,” Urbaniak said. “We can’t just be across the table financial planning; you’ve got to get to know people so that you can help them even better.”

Any company can host a fun social event, but Crystal DeHaven, director of client experience, works year long to make sure they go above and beyond. Oak Partners has a special balance of expertise and small company personalized attention.

Cindy Stewart, Client Relations Manager, said that events are sprinkled all throughout the region to be convenient for the clients.

“Finance is a very personal thing,” Stewart said. “It’s important we know what’s going on in our clients' lives, not just numbers. They are like family.”

Stephanie Hescher, Executive Assistant, shared that being surrounded by basketball and food is a great, relaxed way to bond.

“Tonight is such a great opportunity to get to know clients on a friendship basis,” Hescher said. “You can’t learn all about a person in meetings, so it’s nice to have a time to relax with them and get to know them better.”
