Oak Partners’ Oaktoberfest Celebrates Clients and the Season

It certainly felt like October as the Oak Partners welcomed clients and their family and friends to their 9th annual Oaktoberfest at their Crown Point offices on Friday night.

The family-friendly event brings generations together to enjoy an evening out. Kids played cornhole, adults laughed and chatted, clients and advisors caught up on a personal level. All were welcome under the tent for food and fun; the office was open for a quick warm up!

In honor of National Hunger Action Month, a donation of non-perishables was the price of admission for AYCE Dickie’s BBQ and bottomless glasses of seasonal craft beer. “Got Issues?” filled the tent with live classic rock as guests spent quality time with their families, friends, and advisors.

“We like to give back to our community, so we do this every year, as well as the toy drive for the Carmelite Home in East Chicago,” said Crystal DeHaven, Director of Client Experience, noting that the whole team donates. “Last year we raised 1600 pounds of non-perishables for the Northwest Indiana Food Bank, and we’re excited to raise even more this year.”

Oaktoberfest, a play on Octoberfest, began the first year the office opened as an autumn-themed open-house. The event is well attended every year, last year drawing 300 guests with an expectation of 500 this year. By the sheer numbers, Oak Partners should have no problem meeting their charitable goals of raising a literal ton.

“It’s nice to donate food as a community,” said Janellen McCoy of Morocco. “We don’t all live in Crown Point, but we all have Oak Partners in common.

“You can take care of business,” McCoy said, as her husband was signing some papers. “You also get to eat great food, listen to a band, and socialize, too!”

“I like getting to spend time with my clients and just catching up,” said Wealth Advisor Clint Henry. “Oaktoberfest is more personal. It’s not just coming in and reviewing their portfolio, it’s more about seeing what’s going on in their lives.”

“Oaktoberfest is a nice opportunity to spend time with our existing clients,” said DeHaven. “We really enjoy getting to meet some new people in a celebratory setting.”
