As an organization that specializes in wealth and retirement planning, Oak Partners is in it for the long haul when it comes to building relationships with clients. This means getting to know clients on a personal level, and Oak Partners finds joy in creating opportunities to connect with clients through events like its annual Lace Up Your Skates ice skating party on February 3 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Bulldog Park in Crown Point.
"Events like this allow us the opportunity to hang out with our clients in an informal setting," said Crystal DeHaven, Oak Partners director of client engagement. "We get to meet families and have fun. It's purely social; there's no economic data today and no hard financial tasks, just pure fun."
At this year’s event, clients and wealth advisors laced up the provided skates and took to the ice together with their families in tow. After skating a few laps on the ice, they were able to take a breather, savoring warm cups of cocoa and tasty cookies on the sidelines before diving back into the action.
Lace Up Your Skates is a great way for wealth advisors to not only connect with clients on a deeper level but also to meet the family members they have heard so much about. Through discussions of life’s various expenses and planning for a sound financial future, wealth advisors learn about their clients’ personal lives and families. Being able to spend time with clients’ families in a casual setting – skating alongside one another and indulging in sweet treats during snack breaks – is a rewarding, full-circle moment for wealth advisors.
"In order to manage their assets and provide quality financial sound advice to our clients, we have been able to get to know them personally and know what their goals are," Jeff Hadt, wealth advisor, said. "This is a great way to see somebody outside an office setting and get a personal level of communication with our clients."
Naturally, this opportunity to connect on a personal level benefits the clients as well as the wealth advisors. There is confidence that comes with clients growing their connection with their wealth advisors. If you can trust the person handling your finances, you can rest in the assurance of a bright, financially independent future.
"These events are always fun because we hear about our clients' children and grandchildren all the time. They are always telling us stories about their families, and we're doing a lot of planning for their families," said Wealth Advisor Bridget Shoemaker. "These events are a great opportunity for us to actually get to meet their loved ones and put faces to names. It makes everything a bit more personal."
Whether meeting to discuss financial planning or racing around an ice rink, Oak Partners wealth advisors want their clients to understand that they care about more than the numbers – they care about the people, the dreams, and the legacies those numbers protect.
