Officer Receives Award at City Council Meeting

K-9 Officer Todd Kobitz Honored at Meeting

On August 22nd, 2010 Officer Todd Kobitz and other officers were provided a dispatch and description of a vehicle possibly involved in several thefts. Officer Kobitz recalled a recent encounter with an individual that owned a vehicle that was similar to the described vehicle dispatched. Officer Kobitz responded to the known address of the vehicle owner and located two individuals. valpopolice

Through further investigation, including interviews with both subjects each admitted to being responsible for numerous thefts. As a result of Officer Kobitz investigation countless personal items were recovered and returned to the rightful owners, including cash. Both subjects were arrested and charged with five counts of felony theft and one count of felony possession of narcotics.

Last night at a City Council meeting Chief of Police Michael Brickner presented Officer Todd Kobitz with an Honorable Mention Award for outstanding police work for the investigation leading to the arrest of these individuals.
