Open House to Prepare NWI Young Adults for Careers in Energy

center-workforce-innovationsNorthwest Indiana will be able to reap the benefits of the President’s High Growth Job Training Initiative grants through the Department of Labor, in the energy industry, through their Get into Energy job training program.

Get into Energy will provide opportunities for local young people, ages 18-26, to take advantage of local training in the energy field. Training in Northwest Indiana will focus on plant operations, pipefitting/pipe laying, and line installation & maintenance, and will be conducted through Ivy Tech campuses in Gary and Valparaiso.

Interested individuals are urged to attend one of two open houses scheduled for October 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the Gary Ivy Tech- 1440 E 35th in Gary (multi-purpose room) or on October 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ivy Tech Valparaiso campus located at 3100 Ivy Tech Drive. WorkOne representatives will join NIPSCO and Ivy Tech representatives to provide information on the Get into Energy program, admission process, financial aid, and potential job opportunities.
