The Valparaiso Police Department is issuing a traffic alert for this afternoon and early evening for the downtown and surrounding areas of Valparaiso.
Starting at 4pm this afternoon roadways in the downtown area will be closing in preparation for the National Softball Association Girls Fast Pitch World Series parade and opening ceremony at Central Park located in downtown Valparaiso. A parade will begin this evening starting at 6pm with an estimated 3000 softball players participating in the parade.
The parade will begin at 6:00 pm at Central School (located at the corner of Franklin St/ Institution St.) and proceed southbound on Franklin St. to Lincolnway Ave. The parade will then turn westbound on Lincolnway and proceed to Central Park located at the corner of Linconlway and Lafayette St.
Travel through the downtown area will be greatly restricted during this time and motorist should plan alternative routes of travel during this time. All downtown restrictions should be concluded by 9 p.m. tonight.
