Opportunity Enterprises is hosting their OE Family and Friends Together meeting on Monday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. Cynthia Sherlock, a Social Security Administration employee,
will give a presentation on the intricacies of the various types of state funding available to individuals with disabilities. She will answer questions regarding waivers, entitlement, and necessary requirements. There will also be a lengthy question and answer period with OE staff regarding the current rules and regulations of state funding. Those interested in attending the meeting are asked to enter Opportunity Enterprises, 2801 Evans Avenue in Valparaiso, at the Training Room, Entrance #2, at the north end of the building. The meeting is open to the public; no reservations required.
The Family and Friends Together meetings are part of an Opportunity Enterprises initiative, Family and Consumer Supports. The program provides support for parents, siblings, guardians and friends of consumers, as well as an outlet to be actively engaged with loved ones. It was created by Opportunity Enterprises as it prepares for the increasing number of challenged individuals seeking services as they transition into new programs, the community or the workforce. The objective of this program is to better serve current and potential OE consumer families by sharing resources, information and volunteer opportunities.
