Children with disabilities are typically excluded from summer camping,” shares Respite Supervisor Joshua Bougie, “so OE has decided to provide an opportunity for special needs children to enjoy a summer camp.”

Our beautiful respite home with its large wooded lawn and swimming pool provides a fun and relaxing setting,” says Bougie, “and our staff members who are CPR and first aid certified, as well as specifically trained to work with individuals with disabilities, provide the support and expertise necessary for a great camp experience.”

Campers will enjoy a variety of activities, including time in the swimming pool, games, arts and crafts, and field trips to a park, the zoo, and OE’s Lakeside property to enjoy a day of outdoor activities, including a pontoon boat ride on Lake Eliza.

Our campers will be able to enjoy most of the typical summer camp activities,” says Bougie, “but will also receive the support they need to have a safe and fun week.”

To find out more about the camp, or obtain a camp application, please contact Respite Supervisor Joshua Bougie at 219-548-0206 or Joshua.bougie@oppent.org, or Respite intern Lauren Pascarella at lpascare@uga.edu.
