Opportunity Enterprises is the proud recipient of the 2014 America’s Farmers Grow Communities grant for Porter County, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.
On Monday, March 10, Linda Hazen, Major Gifts Officer, accepted a $2,500 contribution from Osadeba Omokaro of Channel, a division of Monsanto located in West Lafayette, Ind. Cindy Hunter, a local farmer and long-time supporter of Opportunity Enterprises, nominated the nonprofit for this award. The funds will go towards the summer gardening program at OE’s Lakeside location.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities is a program that launched in 2010. Its goal is to engage farmers in entering to win a $2,500 donation for their favorite community nonprofit organization, such as 4-H, FFA, schools, fire departments and other civic groups. One winner is selected in each of 1,289 eligible counties in 39 states.

It is such an honor to be supported by our community in this way,” said David Stupay, CEO of Opportunity Enterprises. “Our folks at our Lakeside site are excited to get ready for another growing season, especially after taking a year off for the construction of our new day services wing.”
