When it comes to the holiday season, Overhead Door Company of Northwest Indiana raises local spirits in addition to high caliber garage doors. In the essence of giving back to the community, especially around the time of year when the gift of giving is most celebrated, the company hosts a local food and toy drive.

This year marks Overhead Door of Northwest Indiana’s 7th annual food and toy drive. Donated toys will benefit Fieler Elementary School in Merrillville, and donated foodstuffs will go toward the Ross Township Food Pantry. Everyone in the Region is encouraged to participate.

“We are accepting donations from now ‘til about December 10th,” said Overhead Door of Northwest Indiana’s Nathan Carrasquillo. “[Participants] can drop off items at our Valpo store or our Merrillville store.”

If you can’t find a moment to make it out to one of OHD’s storefront locations in this window of time, no problem! If you have an upcoming service scheduled or want to make one in the near future, Carrasquillo said that participants can give their donations straight to the technician that’s servicing their garage door or installing a garage door opener.

Carrasquillo said that the food/toy drive is a great way for both the community at large and Overhead Door Company to get involved in the area in a meaningful way.

“We like to offer the local community the opportunity to give back sometimes; they may not know how or where to do it. In this way, we can offer just such an opportunity, and we deliver to the places [the donations] need to go,” Carrasquillo said. “Our own team also donates as the year goes on. We always like to give back to our local community.”

For Overhead Door Company of Northwest Indiana, this is just one more way to go above and beyond their call to servicing the Region.

“We have an area here that trusts us to provide service at their homes,” Carrasquillo said. “So we love having the opportunity to give back to our hometown area whenever and however we can.”

Collect your food items and toys now and head to either the Valparaiso or Merrillville Overhead Door location to drop them off. Or, schedule your appointment with an OHD technician today, so you can pass along your donations.
