Valpo senior swimmer Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference co-Swimmer of the Week after an impressive performance in the team’s dual meet with Evansville last Friday.
Wright helped Valpo get off to a strong start to the meet, swimming the leadoff leg as the Brown and Gold captured the 200 medley relay to open the competition.
Having already secured one relay win, Wright then added a pair of individual triumphs to her ledger. The senior touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.43. She completed her day with a time of 5:13.45 to win the 500 free, taking top honors by six seconds and posting a time just .13 outside of Valpo’s all-time top-10 in the event.
For Wright, this marks her second career weekly award from the conference office, as she was previously named MVC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 14, 2017. Wright and her teammates return to action this Saturday, Nov. 2 at Youngstown State
