Paul Bazia is Hospital’s October 2015 Ambassador of the Month

Paul-BaziaPaul Bazia, who for 33 years has been employed in the Dietary Department, is Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City’s October Ambassador of the Month.

The award has been presented by the hospital’s Social and Recognition Committee since 1988 and recognizes employees who exhibit the mission and values of Franciscan Alliance, which include compassion for those in need, respect for life and the dignity of mankind, wellness and prevention of illness, restoration to health and acceptance of death as the final step toward wholeness. Recipients also have demonstrated courtesy, the proper attitude and enthusiasm for their work.

Bazia, of Michigan City, was nominated for the award by a hospital visitor, who said Bazia always is helpful and willing to carry she and her husband’s trays, when they use the cafeteria.

Bazia said he was “shocked, very excited and honored” to receive the recognition.

“It is such a good feeling when I am out and about and the people I serve stop and talk to me.” He added that his supervisor, Kathy Kesling, “is great to work for and always helpful, as are my co-workers.”

His hobbies include watching sporting events, going to the beach and to the Blue Chip Casino to listen to music.

In recognition of the honor, Bazia, as are all Ambassador recipients, was honored with a special billboard display for the month, a privileged parking spot, an Ambassador badge holder, a photo on the Ambassador of the Month wall that displays the previous 12 months’ winners, and $150 cash.
