PCACS Provides Transportation to NIRPC Hearing

pcacsPorter County Aging and Community Services will be assisting community members who wish to attend a hearing on how area public transportation operators are serving people with disabilities.

PCACS will provide transportation to the public hearing from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 26 at Purdue University Calumet’s Student Union and Library Building, Alumni Hall, in Hammond. The hearing is hosted by Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission to collect comments from the public, current riders, former riders and people with disabilities regarding the ADA compliance of Lake, Porter and LaPorte County transportation services.

The hearing will also be available via the Internet at www.nirpc.org. Viewers will be able to email comments to the hearing site where they will be read into the record.

PCACS’ mission is to extend a helping hand to seniors, those who are disabled and low-income residents by providing services to improve their quality of life, including transportation, nutrition programs, energy assistance and activity centers.
