Perkins Becoming Multi-Threat Player for Jackson State

Michael Perkins was recruited out of Valparaiso, as a kicker. Last season, he was turned into a receiver. Last Saturday, he was both - after an injury kept JSU punter Kris Selita from punting.

Perkins averaged 37 yards on four punts with a long of 56 in his first punting experience since high school two years ago. "I just told the guys, 'Guys, I'm just trying to get the ball off,'" Perkins said.

Perkins had his most productive day this season as a receiver, too. Redshirted last season, Perkins led all receivers with 86 yards. He had six catches and didn't drop a pass. Other WRs dropped five passes.
