PNC Books and Coffee Series Begins

Purdue University North Central is again hosting the "Books & Coffee" discussion series during the coming months. The programs, which are free and open to the public, will meet from noon to about 1 p.m. in Library-Student-Faculty Building, Room 170A, located adjacent to the cafeteria. PNC

Each session will feature a review of the book, followed by a discussion period. The books being reviewed are available for purchase from the PNC Bookstore. This year's selections include:

Oct. 20 - Dr. Kenneth Kincaid, assistant professor of History, will review "American Chica: Two Worlds, One Childhood," by Maria Arana.

Nov. 17 - Dr. Jeff Shires, associate professor of Communication, will review "The Shallows" by Nicolas Carr

Feb. 16 - Colleen Lacey, limited-term lecturer, will review "Wolf Hall" by Hilary Mantel. "Wolf Hall" earned the 2009 Booker Prize.

March 16 - Robert Mellin, continuing lecturer of English, will review "The Death of Innocence: The Story of the Hate Crime that Changed America," by Christopher Benson.

April 20 - Dr. Jesse Cohn, associate professor of English, will review "Revolution and Other Writings: A Political Reader" by Gustav Landauer.
