James served in that position for almost nine years and was a tireless advocate for disabled individuals. She had a key role with coordinating accommodations for students with disabilities and was instrumental in ensuring that the campus be accessible to all students and visitors. She worked to ensure that all people have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. James was posthumously presented with the Purdue University 2010 Focus Award. Purdue University presents this annual award to a faculty member, staff employee, student and organization to recognize their outstanding contribution to furthering Purdue's commitment to disability accessibility and diversity.

This is the first book for Harvey, an Evansville resident, she takes readers on a journey of self-discovery in a poignant book of poetry that aims to deliver the message that all people matter. This collection addresses the ups and downs of life and offers readers a comfortable outlet for personal introspection. At the same time, it does not mask the fact that life is difficult. The book does communicate the overall message that all people have value and can positively contribute to the world around them.

"In many ways, it acts like a mirror allowing people to see and understand themselves better," says Harvey. "When people connect to it, they also learn they are not alone. People of all ability levels have value. I have lived my entire life with a disability, which has given me a great deal of insight into the world around me. My disability does not define me."

"Unclipped Wings" encourages readers to gain an understanding of the impact they have on those around them, and to appreciate relationships even when times are tough.

Harvey is a disability advocate with personal and professional experience in the field of disabilities. She has spoken at numerous national conferences including Abilities Expo's and the World Congress on Disabilities and is a member of the National Disability Sports Alliance and the disability rights activist organization ADAPT and is a lifetime volunteer of Easter Seals.

Harvey holds a bachelor's degree from DePauw University and is a graduate of the University of Denver Publishing Institute.
