The conference is dedicated to creating an awareness of the "magic" of bringing the discoveries of neuroscience into our early learning environments. This conference will support "magical" collaborations through learning about children and understanding the value of networking with other early childhood professionals.

It brings together early childhood educators representing many roles -- teaching staff, program administrators, students, researchers and teacher educators, along with other professionals who interact with children during their early developmental years - mental health professionals, parents, day care workers, doctors and nurses.

The event is supported by the Purdue North Central Center for Early Learning, Strosacker Foundation, Northwest Indiana United Way Success By 6 and the Michigan City Area Schools.

The early bird registration fee is $55, due by March 31, which includes a free box lunch. After April 1, registration is $65, with no guarantee of lunch. Admittance to the Family Fun Time event following the conference is included with the conference registration fee.

During the conference, participants will explore unique learning opportunities, develop skills that improve professional preparation and practice and discuss effective, active learning approaches to enhance effectiveness during this important developmental stage.

The theme, "The Magic of Early Learning," is woven throughout a fun-filled day with dynamic speakers, opportunities to explore new strategies and opportunities to connect and interact with colleagues.

The keynote speaker is William DeMeo, a developmental school psychologist who coordinates the mental health services for the Cincinnati Public Schools' Early Childhood Program. In addition, he has a private practice specializing in serving children and families that other agencies are not able to serve and he is the author of several books.

He is one of the most sought after trainers for childhood professionals in the areas of mental health and brain-based learning.

The conference will also feature vendors and information booths as well as poster presentations by PNC students.

There will be a family fun-time event at 3:30 p.m., immediately following the conference, featuring Magic by Randy. Randy Bernstein will perform interactive entertainment for children and adults. His funny, high-energy show delivers important positive messages for audiences of all ages.

The Family Fun Time event is open to the public. Non-conference attendees may enjoy Family Fun Time for $3 a ticket.

Family Fun Time is graciously sponsored by the Purdue North Central Women's Association and that Northwest Indiana Success by 6 is a generous sponsor of the conference
