PNC Golf Outing Helps Fund Scholarships

Purdue University North Central recently held its "Chancellor's Invitational" golf outing to help raise funds to benefit PNC Athletics programs and PNC Alumni Association activities.

The event attracted 50 teams of golfers from a variety of businesses and organizations from throughout Northwest Indiana.

"We've raised a quarter of a million dollars during the last eight years through our athletic fundraisers," said John Weber, PNC director of Athletics. "Thanks to the generosity of our donors we are able to provide scholarships that help with the recruitment and retention of student athletes. We have a 90 percent retention rate for athletes at PNC."

According Alumni Relations Director Amy Davis, a portion of the proceeds from the outing will support alumni scholarships as well as alumni association activities, such as events that provide engagement and opportunities for students and alumni.

"Because of events like this we recently made a $5,000 gift back to PNC. The Alumni Association feels it is important to set an example by giving back to organizations that make the most impact in the community," said. Davis. "Alumni and Athletics are a natural partnership and I am proud that we are working together on this event. This golf outing offers an opportunity for alumni, friends and area businesses to get together with others connected to PNC. We thank all of our donors for their generosity and continued support. - this event would not be a success without them."
